Overview of the Scale AI — AI training program
The grant program is designed to support Canadian companies in enhancing their workforce through custom-developed or adapted training in digital intelligence or artificial intelligence. Eligible activities include lectures, coaching, workshops, and ideation sessions, with funding covering costs related to training preparation, delivery, and follow-up. The program does not support publicly available training or AI tool usage, and projects must have a minimum cost of $5,000.
Financing terms and conditions
- The total project amount must be at least $5,000.
- There is no maximum amount stipulated for submitting a request.
Eligible projects & activities
- Training in digital intelligence with content custom-developed or adapted for the company in collaboration with a training provider of the company's choice.
- Training in artificial intelligence with content custom-developed or adapted for the company in collaboration with a training provider of the company's choice.
- Training delivered in various formats, including lectures, coaching, workshops, or ideation sessions.

Eligibility criteria of the Scale AI — AI training program
- The applicant must be a company training employees who work in Canada.
- The organization must not be a department or agency of the municipal, provincial, or federal government.
- The proposed project must involve customized training in digital intelligence or artificial intelligence developed or adapted for the company, in collaboration with a training provider of their choice.
- The total project value must be at least $5,000.
- The training must not be a publicly available program and should be tailored to the company’s needs.
- The training must not focus on how to use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
Who is eligible?
- Companies training employees based in Canada (excluding government departments or agencies)
Who is not eligible
- Departments or agencies of the municipal, provincial, or federal government.
- Companies seeking funding for publicly available training programs not tailored to the company's needs.
- Projects focused on training employees on how to use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
Eligible expenses
- Costs related to training preparation.
- Costs related to training delivery.
- Costs related to training follow-up.
- Some associated expenses connected to the training project.
How to apply to the Scale AI — AI training program

Submit an Eligibility Request
- Fill out the eligibility request form available on the Scale AI website.
- Include the course plan or service offer for the training in your submission.
- Submit the request through the provided channel.

Wait for Contact
- After submitting the eligibility request, wait for Scale AI to contact you.
- If your project qualifies, you will be given further instructions on completing the full application.

Complete Full Application
Upon qualification, complete the full application as instructed by Scale AI.

Selection Committee Review
Your project will be reviewed by the Scale AI selection committee for a decision.

Contract Signing
- If your project is approved, a contract will be signed between your company and Scale AI.
- The grant amount will be confirmed at this stage.

Conduct the Training
- Proceed with the training once the project is approved and the contract is signed.
- Note that the training must not start before approval.

Submit Reimbursement Documents
- Pay the invoice to the provider upon completion of the training.
- Submit required documents to Scale AI for partial reimbursement of costs.
Additional information
- There is no deadline for submitting applications; submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
- There is no pre-approved list of training providers; companies may select the provider of their choice to create or adapt the training content.
- The total amount of the project must be at least $5,000, with no specified maximum limit for funding requests.
- Training may take various forms, such as lectures, coaching, workshops, and ideation sessions, provided it is custom-developed or adapted for the company.
- Applicants must ensure that training does not commence before receiving formal approval from Scale AI, or expenses will not be eligible for reimbursement.
