Who is eligible?
- Non-profit, volunteer-led community organizations
- Local, non-profit incorporated groups providing sport, recreation, or cultural services
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Construction, renovation, retrofit, or repairs to buildings, and facility maintenance or operation costs not directly related to program or services
- Alcoholic beverages, food or food-related costs, and uniforms or personal items such as sweatbands, socks, protective equipment, or hats
- Prizes, trophies, plaques, and membership fees in other organizations eligible to receive lottery funding
- Out-of-province activities and travel
- Subsidization of full-time employee costs, and conferences, meetings, or AGMs
Selection criteria
- Applications demonstrating greater financial need may be given priority
- Larger scale events may be given priority
- New applications may be given priority over ongoing annual events
- New special events may be given priority over annual events
How to apply
- Complete the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program Application form.
- Provide the contact person's name, address, email and phone number, the active incorporation number, and a complete project description and budget with revenue and expenses.
- Answer all questions completely.
- Submit the application by email to recreation@moosejaw.ca or in person at Kinsmen Sportsplex, 855 MacDonald St W, Attention Recreation Program Supervisor, by 4:00 p.m. November 30 each year for programs operating between April 1 and March 31 of the following year.
Processing and Agreement
- Eligible projects are reviewed by the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Advisory Committee for recommendation to City Council
- Funding decisions are approved by City Council and are final and not subject to appeal
- Organizations are reimbursed after the event upon submission of the completed Saskatchewan Lotteries Follow-up Report, actual receipts within the grant year or a Certified Audited Financial Statement, proof of active incorporation status, and proof of advertising that recognizes Saskatchewan Lotteries and the City of Moose Jaw
- The follow-up report must be submitted within 60 days of the end date of the event or program or no later than May 31, and missed deadlines can affect current and future funding
- Written requests for changes in the spending plan must be made within the grant period and approved before proceeding
