Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Students attending or applying to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
  • Applicants residing in Manitoba, Canada.
  • Single parents with sole or primary custody of their child(ren).
  • Applicants who are or will be recognized as full-time students by their institution and/or department.

Selection criteria

  • Demonstrated financial need carries significant weight.
  • The completed budget plays a significant role in the selection process.
  • The long answer response is a key part of the selection process.

How to apply

  • Download the application form.
  • Complete the application, including the income and expenses sheet and the typed long answer question.
  • Include the required documents: photocopy of ID, Proof of Income Statement, and any optional supporting documents you choose to add.
  • Submit the completed application by email to info@riseabovebursaries.ca or by mail to Rise Above Bursaries, PO Box 35032 Henderson PO, Winnipeg MB R2K 4J9.
  • If submitting by email, send a scanned application only; photographs will not be accepted.
  • Submit the application by the end of the day on July 31, 2026.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications that do not include all required information will not be considered.
  • After the deadline, the board will create a short-list of five applicants and schedule video interviews.
  • Additional questions may be asked during the interviews.
  • Successful applicant(s) will be notified by August 25, 2026 and required to submit proof of enrollment by August 31, 2026.
