Who is eligible?

  • Canadian organizations
  • Consortia led by Canadian signatories
  • Organizations working in health systems, health service delivery, SRHR, or construction-related project settings

Who is not eligible

  • Non-Canadian organizations as signatories
  • Organizations not legally constituted in Canada
  • Organizations that cannot meet the project experience requirements
  • Profitable projects

Eligible expenses

  • Direct project implementation costs
  • Salary and travel costs
  • Construction-related activities, when eligible under the program

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects or proposals submitted after the deadline
  • Profitable projects
  • Funding from Canadian federal government sources cannot count toward cost-share
  • Public engagement activities are not a core funded priority and should remain a very small part of the budget if included

Eligible geographic areas

  • Countries eligible for Official Development Assistance
  • Sub-Saharan Africa is a priority region for part of the total funding envelope

Processing and Agreement

  • Concept notes are screened for organizational eligibility and project parameters
  • Eligible applications are assessed for required project experience and overall merit
  • Selected applicants are invited to submit a full proposal
  • Funding decisions are based on the full proposal only
  • Invited applicants have about 8 weeks to prepare the full proposal
