Selection criteria
- Letters of intent are assessed for relevance and priority based on alignment with the research framework for SST, originality, potential contribution to knowledge, importance of the SST problem, fit with workplace research needs, and expected impact and generalization potential.
- Complete research protocols are scored on scientific quality (50%), organization and methodology (25%), contribution of expertise and students or postdoctoral fellows (15%), and realism of the schedule (10%); a score of 75% or more is required for funding.
How to apply

- Submit the letter of intent online through the Synto-IRSST portal.
- If your letter of intent is retained, submit the complete research protocol online through the Synto-IRSST portal.
Processing and Agreement
- The Direction du Fonds et des partenariats de recherche verifies letters of intent for compliance with the eligibility conditions.
- The Scientific Council reviews the letters of intent and assesses their relevance and priority.
- If the letter of intent is retained, candidates are invited to submit a complete research protocol online through the Synto-IRSST portal.
- Protocols are evaluated by a committee of experts, and the Scientific Council makes a funding recommendation to the President and CEO based on the scientific evaluation, the announced research priorities, and the budget envelope.
- The Board makes the final funding decision, selected candidates receive a favorable funding notice, and a summary of reviewer comments is sent to all candidates.
