Overview
The Rénoclimat program offers financial assistance to homeowners in Québec to improve their home's energy performance through eligible retrofits such as insulation, airtightness, and the replacement of doors, windows, and ventilation systems, with grant amounts reaching up to $3,750 for certain upgrades. The program aims to reduce energy consumption and enhance residential comfort by supporting concrete energy efficiency renovation projects.
Financing terms and conditions
- Insulation improvements qualify for financial assistance ranging from $50 to $3,750, varying by area (roof, exterior walls, foundations, exposed floors) and extent of insulation installed.
- Improving a home’s airtightness provides grants from $400 to $800, depending on the achievement or surpassing of air-change rate reduction targets as determined by a post-retrofit energy evaluation.
- Replacement of existing doors or windows with ENERGY STAR certified products is eligible for $150 per rough opening.
- Installation or replacement of a heat recovery ventilator (HRV/ERV) is eligible for a $500 grant per system; installation of a drain water heat recovery system is eligible for $120 to $180.
- For duplexes, triplexes, and multi-unit buildings, amounts are multiplied by a factor based on the number of residential units (from 1.8 for 2–3 units up to 8.0 for 17 or more units).
