Overview

Provides up to $5,000 to increase visitation to SDG tourism initiatives and attractions. Funding supports projects that raise regional visibility and offer unique visitor products.

Activities funded

  • Projects that increase visitation to tourism initiatives and attractions in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry
  • Initiatives that increase the visibility of the SDG region to internal and external visitors
  • Projects that enhance the local economy by offering a unique visitor product
Examples of admissible projects:

Create a self-guided food and heritage walking tour campaign
$ 5,000
Produce a seasonal night market with visitor-focused marketing and signage

Documents Needed

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a community organization or visitor destination located in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
  • The applicant’s primary focus must be attracting visitors to the SDG region.
  • The application must be submitted through an established event or attraction.
  • The project must be a future initiative (no retroactive funding).
  • The applicant must demonstrate that other funding and in-kind support have been explored.

  • Community organizations focused on attracting visitors to the SDG region
  • Visitor destinations (attractions) in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry
  • Established tourism events and attractions in the SDG region

Processing and Agreement

  • Successful applicants were to be notified by the end of April 2022.
  • Following notification, 50% of approved funds would be distributed shortly thereafter.

Additional information

  • Funding is available for future projects only; retroactive requests are not considered.
  • Repeat funding is only available if previous reporting requirements were met.
  • Funding is only guaranteed for the fiscal year of application and is not a commitment for future years.
  • Successful applicants were to be notified by the end of April 2022.
