Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Individual writers in Ontario.
- Writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, comics, and young adult literature.
- Writers of children's literature and illustrated writing.
Who is not eligible
- Organizations.
- Ad-hoc groups and collectives.
- Non-professional applicants.
Eligible expenses
- Artist fees for time spent on the project.
- Research costs, including travel, accommodation, resources, and assistant fees.

- Publication expenses.
- Post-publication expenses.
- Writing for film, radio, television, theatre, or interactive digital media.

Processing and Agreement
- Recommenders review applications and send recommendations to OAC.
- OAC reviews recommendations for applicant and project eligibility.
- Applicants are notified by email when the notification letter is available in Nova.
- If approved, the applicant must enter their SIN and acknowledge the notification letter in Nova.
- The grant cheque is then sent by regular mail.
Additional information
- One application may be submitted to up to ten recommenders per program year.
- Applicants must create or update their Nova profile before applying.
- The final report must be submitted in Nova.
