  • Organizations previously funded through Rare As One Network Cycle 1 or Cycle 2
  • Organizations previously funded through certain other CZI science programs
  • Meta employees and CZI employees
  • Chapter or regional affiliates of larger organizations
  • International chapters of nonprofits based in another country

Eligible expenses

  • Research network development and maintenance
  • Patient and research community convenings
  • Staff and general operations
  • Research-enabling infrastructure such as biobanks and data collection efforts

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Direct research funding
  • Travel expenses to the United States for international grantees

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed and may receive independent expert review.
  • CZI makes the final funding decision and does not provide feedback on unfunded proposals.
  • Selected applicants receive a decision notice, with earliest notification in early August 2024.
  • A grant agreement is required for funded projects, and reporting is expected during the grant term.

  • The application must be completed by the Patient Organization Lead.
