Who is eligible?
- Existing non-profit organizations in BC
- Collaborative entities or groups in BC
- Organizations that are not based in BC but are working in collaboration with BC-based groups on projects that are for the benefit of people and communities in BC
- Indigenous groups, communities, and/or First Nations
- Grant seekers do not need to be registered charities or registered non-profit societies
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects whose main purpose is to produce research studies, educational resources, and reports
- Equity, diversity, and inclusion training for board or staff of organizations, or equity, diversity, and inclusion program audits
- Projects that focus solely on the operational expenses of an organization
- Activities that occur prior to April 2027

How to apply
- Complete the eligibility quiz to determine whether your organization and project qualify.
- If your project is eligible, book a 30-minute Zoom call through Calendly and provide a description of your proposed project, when it will begin, and the amount of funding you are interested in requesting.
- Meet with Law Foundation staff to discuss your group or organization, your proposed project, and how you see alignment with the Law Foundation’s mandate areas, the Activate funding guidelines and the Racial Justice grantmaking framework.
- If your project appears to align with the criteria and funding priorities, you will receive an invitation to apply.
- Complete the application in SmartSimple; it consists of five questions and a budget, and oral application options are available.
- Submit all applications by November 13.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after submission.
- Decisions are communicated by November 2023.
