- Companies controlled directly or indirectly by a government, municipality, or Crown corporation.
- Companies listed as ineligible for public contracts.
- Companies under protection of insolvency or bankruptcy legislation.
Eligible expenses
- Research staff salaries and benefits, student scholarships, and related direct project costs.
- Materials, consumables, supplies, and equipment purchase or rental.
- Travel, stay, knowledge dissemination, subcontracting, and professional fees.
- Intellectual property operating costs and CRITM management fees.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Teacher release costs without confirmation of the real cost by the institution.
- Equipment purchases above the program limits.
- Travel and stay expenses for foreign researchers.
- Equipment-use fees are not eligible for indirect research costs.
Eligible geographic areas

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after the submission deadline by an independent selection committee.
- Projects are evaluated on scientific and technical relevance, impact, consortium quality, and feasibility.
- Only projects that receive a passing mark and unanimous committee recommendation move forward.
- The CRITM Board of Directors approves the projects and follows up on the selected files.
- A research agreement must be signed between the partners before CRITM funding is paid.

- The research agreement must be signed within 3 months of ministerial confirmation.
