  • Companies controlled directly or indirectly by a government, municipality, or Crown corporation.
  • Companies listed as ineligible for public contracts.
  • Companies under protection of insolvency or bankruptcy legislation.

Eligible expenses

  • Research staff salaries and benefits, student scholarships, and related direct project costs.
  • Materials, consumables, supplies, and equipment purchase or rental.
  • Travel, stay, knowledge dissemination, subcontracting, and professional fees.
  • Intellectual property operating costs and CRITM management fees.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Teacher release costs without confirmation of the real cost by the institution.
  • Equipment purchases above the program limits.
  • Travel and stay expenses for foreign researchers.
  • Equipment-use fees are not eligible for indirect research costs.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed after the submission deadline by an independent selection committee.
  • Projects are evaluated on scientific and technical relevance, impact, consortium quality, and feasibility.
  • Only projects that receive a passing mark and unanimous committee recommendation move forward.
  • The CRITM Board of Directors approves the projects and follows up on the selected files.
  • A research agreement must be signed between the partners before CRITM funding is paid.

  • All project partners must become CRITM members for the duration of the project.
  • The research agreement must be signed within 3 months of ministerial confirmation.
