The PROMPT — Quantum Technologies grant funds collaborative research and development projects in quantum technologies involving at least two Quebec-based companies, including at least one SME or startup. The program offers up to $1.5 million per project to support innovation, cost-sharing, and shared intellectual property among business partners.
Financing terms and conditions
- The maximum financial assistance is $1,500,000 per project, including management fees, for a period of up to 24 months.
- The aid rate is up to 35% of eligible expenses for SMEs or large enterprises and up to 50% for startups.
- An increased rate of up to 50% applies if at least 20% of eligible expenses are incurred by an eligible public research centre or for quantum computing platform access via PINQ2, Calcul Québec or DistriQ.
- A management fee equal to 5% of eligible expenses is applied.

Eligibility
- The company must be legally incorporated under federal or Quebec law and registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec.
- The company must have its head office in Quebec, with employees or subcontractors working primarily from Quebec.
- For SMEs: the company must have 249 or fewer employees and not be owned 50% or more by another business, and possess rights to their intellectual property.
- A project must involve a group of at least two Quebec-based companies, including at least one SME or startup, with collaborative sharing of costs, benefits, and intellectual property.
- Each participating company must devote expertise and resources (financial or human) to the joint research project.

- Quebec-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in quantum technologies
- Quebec-based startups operating in quantum technologies
- Groups of at least two Quebec companies collaborating on quantum technology research projects (at least one must be an SME or a startup)
Who is not eligible
- Companies that are not legally constituted under Canadian or Quebec laws or not registered with the Quebec Enterprise Register.
- Businesses whose head office and main workforce are not based in Quebec.
- Enterprises owned 50% or more by other companies.
- Academic organizations (for this program, as the academic stream is no longer available).

- Expenses incurred by an eligible public research centre, provided these represent at least 20% of the project’s total eligible expenses.
- Expenses for access to quantum computing platforms via PINQ2, Calcul Québec, and DistriQ.
