Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Naturalized Canadian citizens.
  • Permanent residents.
  • People authorized to submit an application for permanent residence in Canada.
  • Temporary residents with a work or study permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • People exempt from the obligation to have a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec and the obligation to have a work permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Who is not eligible

  • Asylum seekers
  • Tourists
  • Canadian citizens by birth
  • Agricultural workers and domestic helpers
  • People receiving benefits from another government training program

Eligible expenses

  • Participation in refresher training or unpaid internship
  • Childcare costs for dependent children
  • Transport by public transit
  • Travel by car where no public transit is available

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Training outside the eligible profession or trade list
  • Immersion internships or exploratory work experiences
  • Training funded by MESS or CPMT programs
  • Mandatory training common to all candidates for a licence
  • Training or internships in a language other than French

Processing and Agreement

  • After submission, the Ministère sends a message in Arrima.

  • If documents are missing, additional documents are requested.
  • Approved aid is paid after approval, with ongoing attendance monitoring for recurring streams.
