UREX Awards Terms of Reference published
The newly available UREX Awards Terms of Reference add detailed program rules for who may apply, including current UCalgary undergraduate students and international students presently studying at UCalgary, plus GPA rounding and fall-grade treatment. They also define eligible and ineligible supervisors, require proposals to originate primarily from the student, set submission at 11:59 p.m. on the due date, add supervisor review steps after submission, and introduce assessment criteria, notification timing, and award-holder restrictions such as not holding another summer studentship award.

Who is eligible?
- University of Calgary undergraduate students, including international students presently studying at the University of Calgary.
- Students in any faculty and any discipline.

- Students who have completed the requirements for their degree program.
- Students planning to graduate in June.

How to apply

- Find a research supervisor.
- Prepare your proposal and review the application format and evaluation rubric for UREX Summer awards.
- Work with your supervisor to submit your application by the deadline.
Processing and Agreement
- All eligible applications will be assessed using the criteria in the UREX Award Program Rubric (Appendix A).
- The adjudication of the UREX Award Program applications is conducted through faculty-based committees.
- Successful applicants will be notified 6–8 weeks after the deadline and will conduct research between May and August of the same year.
- Students offered a UREX award will be required to accept or decline the offer by a date specified in the offer notification.
- During their research term, UREX students must complete an entry and end-point evaluation survey, and following the completion of their term, they are asked to submit a report of their experience.
