Overview

This funding supports archiving and preserving recorded sound heritage of the Americas. It offers up to $5,000 for assistance/assessment/consultation and up to $20,000 for preservation implementation activities.

Activities funded

  • Preservation implementation projects that enhance the ability to preserve recorded sound collections.
  • Planning, assessment, and preparation of recorded sound collections to be archived and preserved.
  • Preservation assistance activities, including assessment and consultation related to recorded sound collections.
Examples of admissible projects:

Digitize and stabilize an at-risk hip-hop and spoken-word tape archive

Assess and plan preservation for community radio and concert recordings

  • The project must advance archiving and preservation of music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas.
  • The project must fit within one of the two categories: Preservation Implementation or Assistance/Assessment/Consultation.
  • The application must include a dissemination plan for the project outcomes.
  • The application must identify key personnel and provide brief biographies.
