Food Safety and Traceability intake closed
The Food Safety and Traceability Program intake changed from open with applications accepted from April 23, 2026 until 11:59 PM on July 16, 2026 to closed. The page now says Program Guidelines will be updated for any future intakes and directs users to the upcoming Sustainable CAP intake schedule. The Applicant Information Form and Application Worksheet links were removed from the program page. Users are now directed to the Growing Manitoba Ag newsletter and X for future intake updates.

Who is eligible?
- Agri-food processors
- Agri-product processors
- Food Warehouses/Distributors
- Wholesalers
- Indigenous Governments, individuals, businesses, communities, organizations, and other Indigenous groups undertaking agricultural initiatives
Who is not eligible
- Government employees who are the majority shareholder (50 per cent or higher) in a business or organization
Eligible expenses
- Food safety equipment and traceability equipment
- Food safety program development and implementation
- Food safety training fees and educational materials
- Consultant fees
- Training and setup costs for new equipment or systems
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Expenses paid before the project start date or after the completion date
- GST, HST, and other refundable taxes
- Travel expenses, including training-related travel
- In-kind contributions and normal operating costs
- Land, buildings, facility upgrades, and labels or packaging
Eligible geographic areas
- Inside or outside of Manitoba, as long as the activities occur in Manitoba or have a positive outcome for the province

- Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Applications are assessed for eligibility, form completeness, and project impact on food safety and traceability.
- Applicants are notified through the program process and must sign a funding agreement if approved.
- Projects and reports must be completed by the deadline stated in the agreement.
