  • Organizations outside Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
  • Organizations that are not professional performing arts entities

  • Professional services such as consulting and design
  • Digital tools and new technology
  • Equipment purchase or rental directly related to the project
  • Marketing and promotion tied to the project
  • Project-related salaries, wages, and other incremental costs

  • Refinancing debt or asset depreciation
  • Ongoing operating costs
  • Building construction, expansion, or modification
  • Ticket subsidization, prize money, and merchandise
  • Donations, dues, membership fees, and entertainment expenses

Selection criteria

  • EOIs with strong merit, alignment with program objectives, priority areas, and significant economic benefit are invited to submit a full application.
  • Completed applications are assessed for alignment with program objectives, strong project rationale, measurable economic results for the Canadian Prairies, effective governance and management, financial self-sustaining capacity, and funding from the applicant and other partners.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create or sign in to the PrairiesCan portal
    • Access the application portal with an existing account or create a new one.
  • Step 2: Prepare the expression of interest
    • Review the program guidelines and gather required documents.
    • Complete the online EOI form and upload the required attachments.
  • Step 3: Submit the EOI
    • Submit the form through the PrairiesCan portal.
    • Save the confirmation in your portal account.
  • Step 4: Full application by invitation
    • If selected, complete the full application through the online portal.
    • Submit the additional required documents and details.

Processing and Agreement

  • Within 30 days of the EOI submission, PrairiesCan will invite selected applicants to submit a full application for funding consideration.
  • If you have not been contacted, your project will not be considered further.
  • Completed applications undergo a due diligence process.

Additional information

  • Selected applicants must sign a contribution agreement.
  • Applications are reviewed in a competitive process.
  • Successful recipients must submit progress and financial reports during the project.
  • Projects must be completed by March 31, 2027.
