- Manitoba producers who grow a minimum of 5 acres of processing or table potatoes.
Who is not eligible
- Potato insureds who have had a prior occurrence of Bacterial Ring Rot, unless they fully comply with a clean up order issued in accordance with the Bacterial Ring Rot in Potatoes Regulation under the Plant Pest and Diseases Act of Manitoba.
How to apply
- Request an Agri-protection policy if you do not already have one.
- Make your proposal in person at a MASC service centre.
Processing and Agreement
- Producers who believe their production is below coverage should contact MASC.
- Table and seed potato producers are required to retain representative samples of the potatoes as they are being harvested.
- Annual production is determined from the amount of marketable potatoes declared on the Harvested Production Report and verified through sales receipts, field appraisal, or production measurement.
- If a claim is made, MASC determines the amount of production, and processing potato claims are finalized to net sales.
- Random inspections are carried out each year to assess irrigation equipment, water supply, the irrigation log, the irrigation license, and crop conditions.
