- Environmental scans, preliminary synthesis of relevant literature, and early-stage planning to determine possible commercial viability of a discovery.
- Knowledge exchange activities and gatherings that facilitate regional, national, or international collaboration, partnership development, and networking.

Who is eligible?
- Independent researchers, knowledge users, trainees, and supervisors.
- Activity/event coordinators affiliated with a Canadian non-governmental not-for-profit organization, and community leaders.
- Canadian post-secondary institutions and their affiliated institutions including hospitals and research institutes.
- Canadian non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations with an explicit health research or knowledge translation mandate.
- Canadian non-federal government departments or agencies, including regional health authorities, when specific programs of those departments or agencies do not fund the activity that forms the subject matter of the grant.
Eligible expenses
- Costs associated with planning, publication, translation, and/or dissemination.
- Fees or honoraria for the preparation of background documents, including environmental scans, market reports, and analysis.
- Travel and accommodation for participants.
- Meeting rooms and associated meeting costs, including audio-visual equipment and videoconferences, as well as hospitality costs such as non-alcoholic refreshments or meals.
- Modest honoraria up to $500 CAD for each guest lecturer, and release time funding to replace part of the salary of a knowledge user to allow participation in the project.

- Clarity and alignment of the proposed objectives and scope with the objectives of this funding opportunity.
- Likely impact of the anticipated outcomes.
- Inclusion of relevant stakeholders and sectors.
- Potential to catalyze new initiatives and develop new inter- and multi-disciplinary collaborations.
- Appropriateness and adequacy of the proposed knowledge exchange and/or dissemination plans, project feasibility, team credentials, budget justification, and applications that receive a rating below 3.5 will not be funded.

Processing and Agreement
- A CIHR review committee will evaluate the full applications.
- After review, CIHR Institutes, Initiatives, Branches, and Partners receive the ranking list, ratings, and recommendations on funding level and award term.
- Applications relevant to the specific areas identified in the Priority Announcements will be funded from the top down, in order of ranking, as far as budgets will allow.
- The remaining applications will be funded from the top down, in order of ranking, as far as budgets will allow.
- Applications that receive a rating below 3.5 will not be funded.
- The Nominated Principal Applicant will be required to submit an electronic Final Report to CIHR and participate in monitoring, review, and evaluation activities as required.
