Overview

This funding supports initiatives that prevent social isolation by strengthening support networks and a sense of belonging. Selected projects can receive up to $50,000 for activities that promote solidarity, mutual aid, social interaction, and community involvement.

Activities funded

  • Initiatives that set up or strengthen support networks for people at risk of social isolation
  • Initiatives that encourage social interaction to boost a sense of belonging
  • Initiatives that increase community involvement for populations at risk of isolation
Examples of admissible projects:

Weekly peer circles and buddy calls for isolated seniors and caregivers

After-school belonging hub with meals, skills workshops, and mentoring

Eligibility

  • The request must address social isolation and its impacts on well-being.
  • The initiative must align with at least one priority: growing support networks or strengthening a sense of belonging.
  • The initiative must support people most at risk of isolation (e.g., vulnerable youth, single parents experiencing insecurity, isolated seniors, people with physical or mental health issues and caregivers, people with disabilities, people facing discrimination).
