Who is eligible?

• Businesses.
• Municipalities.
• Indigenous communities.
• Not-for-profit organizations.

Who is not eligible

• Organizations located outside Northern Ontario.
• Organizations without at least one full-time employee.
• Applicants that cannot carry out a fair and transparent hiring process.

Eligible expenses

• Intern salaries or wages.
• Employer's portion of mandatory employment-related costs, including CPP, EI, and mandatory minimum vacation pay.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Discretionary employee benefits such as sick pay and group medical or dental plans.
• Training expenses, computers, equipment, travel, and accommodation.
• Positions that replace existing employees.
• Clerical, general manual labour, retail, and general sales positions.

Eligible geographic areas

• Northern Ontario.
• Algoma.
• Cochrane.
• Kenora.
• Manitoulin.
• Nipissing.
• Parry Sound.
• Rainy River.
• Sudbury.
• Thunder Bay.
• Timiskaming.

• Applications are reviewed by NOHFC after submission.
• Additional project information may be requested during evaluation.
• The application is then presented to the Board of Directors for a final decision.
• Applicants are notified of the decision after board review.

• Applications are reviewed by the NOHFC Board of Directors.
• Funding is limited and not all eligible projects are approved.
• Applications are generally processed within 2 to 4 weeks.
• A fair and transparent recruitment process is required for each position.
