Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Residential BC Hydro customers.
  • BC Hydro business customers under Small, Medium or Large General Service rates.

Who is not eligible

  • Customers on the Residential E-Plus rate (Rate Schedule 1105).

How to apply

  • Log in to your MyHydro profile and navigate to the Peak Saver registration page to enroll in Challenges.
  • Register eligible equipment through the device manufacturer at the time of purchase or after installation via the device manufacturer’s website or mobile app to enroll in Control Events.

Processing and Agreement

  • BC Hydro validates Equipment enrollment for Control Events and may accept or decline it in its sole discretion; the decision is communicated by email.
  • During Control Events, BC Hydro may adjust some or all enrolled Equipment remotely, may enact a Control Event at any time of day or night without notice during a Program Period, may test device connectivity during short nighttime periods, and Participants of Control Events do not receive event notifications.
  • BC Hydro may cancel a scheduled Challenge up to two hours before it starts, and Participants will not be able to earn Rewards for a cancelled Challenge.
  • BC Hydro communicates Challenge results by email at least forty-eight hours after the Challenge ends and through the peak saver timeline in MyHydro; if results cannot be ascertained, the status remains pending until they are available, and a later pass decision may trigger the Challenge Reward.
  • Participants who choose to participate in Challenges must keep their MyHydro email address and, if applicable, mobile phone number up to date; only Participants who have opted in to SMS notifications receive SMS messages, and carrier charges may apply.

Business participants must be BC Hydro business customers linked to an active MyHydro profile with daily smart meter readings and under Small, Medium or Large General Service rates. For Control Events, participants must be the owner or tenant of the Site; tenants need owner consent, and enrolled devices must be eligible, registered through the manufacturer, and connected to Wi-Fi.
