Overview

Peak Perks rewards Ontario electricity customers with eligible Wi-Fi smart thermostats up to $75 for enrolling (plus $20 each year they remain enrolled) to reduce electricity use and support grid reliability during peak demand. Eligible activities include enrolling an approved smart thermostat and allowing brief, time‑limited automatic temperature adjustments (up to 2°C for up to three hours) on hot summer days, with the option to opt out at any time.

Activities funded

  • Enroll an eligible Wi‑Fi smart thermostat at a home or small business to participate in Peak Perks demand response events (brief temperature adjustments during peak electricity demand).
  • Reduce electricity use during peak-demand periods by allowing time-limited smart thermostat adjustments to support Ontario’s grid reliability.
