Who is eligible?
- Individuals aged at least 18.
- Residential electricity customers in Ontario who live in a single-family residence connected through a local electricity distributor to the IESO-controlled grid, excluding Cornwall Electricity customers.
- The account holder for the eligible smart thermostat installed in the residence.
- Renters may apply if they control the eligible smart thermostat and the residence meets program eligibility requirements.
Who is not eligible
- Customers served by Cornwall Electricity in Cornwall, Ontario.
- Residents of multi-unit residential buildings.
- Applicants who are enrolled or committed to another Ontario demand response program for the same calendar years.
- Applicants who have already received a participant incentive for the same smart thermostat in the same calendar year.
How to apply
- Step 1: Visit the Peak Perks enrollment page
- Go to the program enrollment page and answer the setup questions.
- Select your thermostat provider.
- Step 2: Apply through your thermostat channel
- Enroll through your thermostat provider’s mobile app or directly on your thermostat if available.
- Step 3: Await enrollment status
- Check the email address used in your account registration for your enrollment status.
- Step 4: Confirm eligibility and start participation
- Once eligibility is confirmed, you will be enrolled in the program.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
- Applicants receive written notice of acceptance or rejection.
- Eligibility decisions are final and binding.
- Participants must comply with the program terms to remain enrolled.
Additional information
- Participants receive a $75 virtual prepaid Mastercard® when they enroll, and a $20 virtual prepaid Mastercard® each year they remain enrolled.
- Participants are notified before every thermostat adjustment and can opt out at any time by changing the temperature manually or in their provider’s mobile app.
- Enercare or Reliance customers may be eligible for extra enrollment incentives through matching offer programs.
- Additional smart thermostat makes and models may be added in 2025; applicants are encouraged to check back for updates.
