Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Purchase or creation of religious education materials and Bibles
  • Public Address & E-communications tools (not cellphones)
  • Purchase of a motorcycle for priests and nuns, and up to 10 bicycles for catechists to enable travel to remote villages
  • One-time projects of boreholes or water wells on parish property for safe and clean water
  • Solar panels for church & rectory

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Non pastoral-evangelical and socio-economics projects

  • Purchase of 4-wheel vehicles, vehicle repairs, tires, fuel

How to apply

  • Prepare a written project proposal application in English for projects or programs directly related to pastoral-evangelization (religious) work at the parish level.
  • Include the required proposal details, including project purpose and objectives, timelines, detailed budget breakdown, and local contributions and/or financial aid sought from other agencies.
  • Obtain a written endorsement in English from the Bishop of the Diocese wherein the funds will be spent and the project takes place.
  • Submit the application and Bishop’s recommendation letter via postal mail.
  • A digital copy can also be sent through email, but it will only be considered once the original/hard copy is received.

Processing and Agreement

  • An allocations committee administers the Pastoral Mission Fund and reviews applications three times a year.
  • Recipients and their dioceses must comply with Revenue Canada Agency regulations for funds sent outside of Canada.
  • The Bishop is responsible for receipt and distribution of funds for the purpose intended in the original application and ensuring that the applicant returns the necessary documents by the deadline.
  • Conditions of funding include the return of the Acknowledgement of Funds form and a Project Completion Report.

Additional information

  • Applications are reviewed at three allocation meetings each year: March, July, and November.
  • Project proposals should be submitted a minimum of 6 months prior to an allocation meeting.
  • Projects with specific timelines must appear on an agenda that allows for an allocation to be processed prior to the start date of the project.
  • If an allocation has been granted, please allow a minimum of 8 weeks for payment processing.
