Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • B.C.-based film producers.
  • B.C.-based TV producers.
  • B.C.-based digital media producers.
  • B.C.-based media sales agents.

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants with only Executive Producer, Co-Producer, or Associate Producer credits.
  • Directors without a Producer credit.
  • Applicants seeking only service contracts.
  • Applicants without B.C.-owned IP brought to market.

Eligible expenses

  • Registration fees.
  • Return airfare, ground transportation, and vehicle fuel costs.
  • Accommodation and per diem.
  • Marketing materials and overhead costs, within program caps.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Attendance at film premieres, screenings, award nominations, or non-market festivals.
  • Service-contract-only attendance.
  • Complimentary registration or travel provided by market organizers.
  • Expenses without receipts, except permitted per diem and overhead items.

  • Eligible market sites in Canada and internationally, as designated by Creative BC.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review market call and guidelines
    • Check the eligible market site and its specific application period.
    • Confirm whether the market requires pre-selection by organizers.
  • Step 2: Complete the online application
    • Submit the application form through the Passport to Markets webpage.
    • Provide the information required by Creative BC for the selected market.
  • Step 3: Receive confirmation
    • Wait for the submission confirmation email.
    • Keep the confirmation and attached copy for your records.
  • Step 4: Submit final reporting after attendance
    • Send the Final Report online within 30 business days after the market closes.
    • Upload receipts and proof of attendance with the report.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed for eligibility and program fit.
  • Some market sites require pre-selection by the market organizer.
  • If applications exceed available funds, decisions consider applicant experience and the benefits of attending.
  • Funding is paid after attendance and submission of the Final Report.
  • Creative BC may reduce the award after reviewing final eligible costs.
