Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Postdoctoral research trainees with a supervisor or director as co-applicant

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants without Canadian residency
  • Researchers not based at a Canadian university or research institution
  • Projects focused on pharmaceutical product development, product comparison, or product promotion
  • Investigators with final project reports outstanding from CDTRP, ODTRF, or KFOC at the deadline
  • Successful applicants from the 2025 CDTRP Research Innovation Grant competition

Eligible expenses

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare application
    • Write the research proposal, summary, lay abstract, budget justification, and required PFD engagement content.
    • Include references and any optional letters of support or commitment.
  • Step 2: Complete required forms
    • Fill in the contact information requested in the application form.
    • Provide the names of individuals who should not review the application, with justification.
    • Attach the principal applicant’s CIHR BioSketch Common CV.
  • Step 3: Submit electronically
    • Submit the completed application through the online link provided by CDTRP.
    • Ensure the submission is completed before the deadline.
  • Step 4: Confirm submission
    • Keep the submitted application and confirmation for your records.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed after submission.

  • Funding partners may receive the application confidentially for internal documentation and auditing if the proposal is successful.
  • Successful applicants must sign a Research Grant Acceptance Form.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome after review.
