Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Tourism-based businesses and facilities listed in Appendix “A”.
  • Non-commercial tourism attractions that provide visitors with an experience in Heritage or Historical, Recreational, Entertainment, Natural, Cultural, and Educational activities.
  • Out-of-County businesses located within 25kms of the County of Wellington Boundary.

Who is not eligible

  • Residents of the City of Guelph
  • Applicants ordering trees for resale
  • Applicants using trees to satisfy Forest Conservation Bylaw obligations

Eligible expenses

  • Tree seedlings
  • Delivery of seedlings within the program area
  • Mulch mats and rodent guards

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Tree resale
  • Tree planting to meet Forest Conservation Bylaw obligations

Eligible geographic areas

  • Out-of-County businesses located within 25kms of the County of Wellington Boundary.

Selection criteria

  • Sign location decisions will be based upon improving access, enhancing the experience, and boosting visitation.
  • The County of Wellington reserves the right to determine the best location for directional tourism signage.

How to apply

  • Review the application criteria outlined in the Tourism Signage Policy before submitting your application.
  • Printable applications are available on request.
  • Apply online using the Directional Tourism Signage Application.

Processing and Agreement

  • Printable applications are available on request.
  • The County of Wellington will administer all Directional Tourism Signage.
  • The Economic Development Department is responsible for approval or denial of signage applications.
  • Approved signage order and installation are coordinated by the County.
  • Signs will be manufactured during the winter months with install occurring in May of the following calendar year.

Additional information

  • Orders are currently closed and will reopen in October 2026 for the Spring 2027 season.
  • Tree orders are accepted annually from October 1 to March 1.
  • Large orders of 50 to 100+ trees are strongly encouraged.
  • Orders of 500+ trees may qualify for planting assistance.
