• People already receiving social assistance, in some emergency assistance cases.
• Tourists and visitors.
• People serving a period of ineligibility.

Eligible expenses

• Basic living costs, including food and rent.
• Health-related benefits and prescription coverage.
• Child care costs related to employment activities.
• Employment participation expenses.
• Approved business expenses for self-employment income calculations.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Costs not covered by the program's approved business expense rules.
• Expenses already covered by another child care funding source.
• Discretionary benefits that are not approved.

Eligible geographic areas

• Ontario
• Local office area where the applicant ordinarily resides

• The application is reviewed by a caseworker or intake unit.
• Information and supporting documents are verified before a decision is made.
• The applicant receives a written decision and, if approved, payment is issued.
• Applicants may be contacted to develop an employment participation plan after approval.
• If the applicant disagrees with the decision, an internal review can be requested before an appeal.
