Who is eligible?
- Individuals in financial need who need financial assistance for food and housing
Eligible expenses
- Food, clothing, and other personal items
- Rent or mortgage payments, heat, utilities, property taxes, home insurance, and condominium fees
- Prescription drugs, vision care for dependent children and children in temporary care, dental care for children aged 17 and under in First Nations communities, diabetic supplies, surgical supplies and dressings, and medical transportation costs

Processing and Agreement
- The Administrator reviews the application after submission and decides eligibility.
- Eligibility-related information such as income and assets is verified through third parties and documentation.
- Decisions are provided in writing as a Notice of Decision, including the reasons, effective date, and appeal information.
- A written and signed internal review request must be submitted within 30 calendar days of receiving the Notice of Decision before appealing to the Social Benefits Tribunal.
