Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Residents of Ontario.

Eligible expenses

  • Basic needs and shelter expenses

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Travel for purposes other than approved medical travel on the medical mileage reimbursement form

How to apply

  • Apply for Ontario Works online or by phone.
  • Gather information from a number of documents before you start, including your family’s identification and tax documents.

Processing and Agreement

  • An applicant or recipient can request an internal review of any decision.
  • The request must be made in writing within 30 calendar days after receipt of the decision.
  • The office will complete the internal review within 10 days of the request and notify the result.
  • If you disagree with the internal review, you can appeal to the Social Benefits Tribunal within 30 days of the internal review decision.
  • You cannot file the appeal unless you have asked for an internal review.
