How to apply

Confirm funding availability
- Contact Huron County’s Housing Programs Coordinator to confirm funding is available.
- Request the Ontario Renovates Program—Accessibility application guide and forms.

Prepare the application
- Complete the application form and indicate the accessibility repairs required.
- Attach the required supporting documents, including the medical form, income verification, property value assessment, property tax confirmation, mortgage confirmation, insurance policy, and photo identification.

Submit the application
- Submit the application package to Huron County Housing and Property Services or email it to contacthousing@huroncounty.ca.
- Provide at least two written quotes for each requested accessibility upgrade.

Wait for approval
- Allow Housing and Property Services to review the file and arrange a third-party home inspection.
- Wait for approval and the Letter of Agreement outlining the scope of work, funding commitment, and responsibilities.

Complete the upgrades
- Start the approved accessibility upgrades within 60 days of signing the Letter of Agreement.
- Keep original invoices and complete the work through a contractor, not a relative of the homeowner.

Request final payment
- Notify Housing and Property Services when the work is finished so a final inspection can be arranged.
- Submit the original invoices and agreement letter within 30 days for payment processing.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by Huron County Housing and Property Services.
- A third-party inspection is arranged to assess the required upgrades and estimated costs.
- If approved, the homeowner signs a Letter of Agreement.
- After the work is completed, invoices and agreement documents are submitted for final review.
- Funds are released directly to the contractor once completion is confirmed.
