Overview
The Ockenden International Prize provides up to GBP 25,000 for initiatives that promote self-reliance among refugees and/or displaced people. Eligible activities include projects providing education, legal assistance, livelihood assistance, or other programmes that help displaced people build stable, independent lives.
Activities funded
- Projects led by, or with high participation from, refugees and/or displaced people
- Education programmes supporting self-reliance for refugees and/or displaced people
- Legal assistance programmes for refugees and/or displaced people
- Livelihood assistance programmes for refugees and/or displaced people
- Other programmes helping refugees and/or displaced people build stable, independent lives
Examples of admissible projects:

Refugee skills training, certification, and job placement with targeted supports

Legal and housing stabilization clinics for displaced families and individuals

How to apply
Step 1: Prepare application materials
- Complete the Entry Form (use the PDF version if submitting by post).
- Gather the requested documentation to support the entry.
- If submitting by post, print the Entry Form, complete it in block letters, and mail it with the requested documentation by the closing date to the address provided by the program.
- If stable Internet access is not available, use the postal entry option.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by judges.
- Projects are assessed based on effectiveness, real change achieved, and measurable outcomes.
- Decisions are expected around March.
