Who is eligible?

  • Ontario-based ad hoc groups and collectives presenting literary events
  • Ontario-based not-for-profit arts organizations involved in literary activities
  • Not-for-profit arts organizations publishing literary books or magazines in English
  • Eligible for-profit book and magazine publishers with a permanent physical address in Ontario, publishing primarily in English

Who is not eligible

  • Libraries, schools, or post-secondary institutions (may serve as venues but cannot apply).
  • Municipalities, colleges, and universities, including magazines managed or primarily written by students, or publishers organizationally/editorially controlled by these institutions.
  • Publishers whose publications are mainly produced by students as part of academic activities.
  • Publishers that require contributors to pay fees or to purchase their own published work.
  • Current recipients of operating grants from specified Ontario Arts Council programs (except for certain organizations serving priority groups).

  • Grant results are communicated approximately four and a half months after the application deadline.
  • If the final project budget shows a surplus greater than $250, repayment of the surplus to the OAC may be required.
  • Recipients must provide documentation on how OAC recognition requirements were met, such as including OAC and Government of Ontario logos on materials.
