Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
  • Protected Persons from Immigration and Citizenship Canada, for the EHN Guardians bursary.
  • Post-secondary students across Canada.
  • Children of active NPF members, for the Sarah Beckett Memorial Bursary.
  • Spouses of active, registered NPF members, for the NPF Spousal Bursary.

Who is not eligible

  • Claimants are not eligible for the EHN Guardians bursary.
  • Children of any NPF salaried employee are not eligible for the member child bursary or public bursaries.
  • Students intending to study at a non-Canadian institution are not eligible.
  • Undergraduate programs and certificate programs are not eligible for the EHN Guardians bursary.
  • University preparatory programs such as CEGEP pre-university diplomas are not eligible for the public bursaries.

Eligible geographic areas

  • For regional bursaries, applicants must live in Pacific/North, Prairie, or Atlantic/Central.
  • Pacific/North includes British Columbia, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
  • Prairie includes Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.
  • Atlantic/Central includes Quebec, Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first pre-selected by a committee of Canadian university and college representatives chosen by Scholarship Partners Canada.
  • Final selection is made by a Selection Committee consisting of NPFBF Directors, Chair, or delegates.
  • The Selection Committee’s decision is final.
  • Successful applicants must complete the online acceptance process and submit any required documentation.
  • Funds are released after the acceptance process and document review.

Additional information

  • Applicants must apply separately for each bursary.
  • Applicants selected for a bursary are notified in writing by August 31 of the application year.
