Provides up to $100,000 to support health equity research and innovation. Funds projects that integrate health equity principles through inclusive research, data collection and analysis, and implementation of innovative approaches or technologies to address inequities and mitigate implicit bias.
Activities funded
- Health equity research projects focused on rigorous research, data collection, and analysis to identify, address, or evaluate barriers to equitable healthcare access and outcomes.
- Innovation projects that develop or implement programs, tools, technologies, or approaches to address disparities and promote inclusive healthcare practices.
- Initiatives that integrate health equity principles and objectives into research and innovation work.
- Projects that support approaches and related policies intended to mitigate implicit bias in the healthcare system.

- The project must integrate health equity principles and objectives into research or innovation work.

- The project must align with the Department of Health and Wellness Health Equity Framework priorities referenced by the program.

Selection criteria
How to apply
Step 1: Prepare and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Prepare an EOI for the internal funding competition.
- Submit the EOI by the program deadline (EOI deadline shown as February 28, 2025).
- EOIs are reviewed by an independent CAB.
- Receive constructive feedback intended to strengthen the full proposal.
- Selected applicants are invited to submit a full proposal based on CAB review.
- Full proposal invitations are scheduled for April 15, 2025.
Processing and Agreement
- Expressions of Interest are reviewed by an independent Community Advisory Board (CAB).
- The CAB provides constructive feedback to improve the quality of full proposals.
- Applicants are selected from the EOI stage and invited to submit a full proposal based on CAB review.

- This is an internal funding competition delivered in collaboration between Nova Scotia Health and the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation.
