Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Not-for-profit community-based organizations.
  • Registered non-profit organizations under Nova Scotia Joint Stocks.
  • Canadian charitable organizations.

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations supported by a larger provincial or national body.
  • Religion-based organizations, including cemeteries.
  • Sport or recreation organizations covered by a provincial or national sport organization.
  • Organizations already receiving the Municipal Community Partnership Fund.

Eligible expenses

  • Insurance policy expenses for liability insurance, directors and officers insurance, and property insurance.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Applications from organizations supported by a larger provincial or national body.
  • Applications from religion-based organizations, including cemeteries.
  • Applications from sport or recreation organizations whose insurance falls under a provincial or national sport body.
  • Applications from organizations already funded through the Municipal Community Partnership Fund.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete the application
    • Fill out the Not-For-Profit Insurance Grant application form.
    • Attach all required supporting documents.
  • Step 2: Submit the application
    • Send the completed application for review on an as-received basis.
  • Step 3: Await review and decision
    • The application is reviewed by municipal staff.
    • Approved applications move forward for funding processing.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by Parks, Recreation and Culture staff on an ongoing basis.
  • The Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture approves application recommendations.
  • Approved funding is then processed for payment.
  • Recipients must complete a final report within 12 months of approval.
