  • Organizations whose primary purpose is to earn profits for itself, its shareholders, or its members
  • Non-profit organizations that have overdue or incomplete accounting/reporting relating to any grant previously awarded by the City

Selection criteria

  • Priority is given to applications that best meet the stated criteria.
  • Applications are assessed on the organization’s ability to execute the program or event, including background history, financial stability, operational history, community support, and capacity to complete the project.
  • Applications are assessed on access to additional funding, a detailed budget, and explanation of costs.
  • Applications are assessed on demonstrated community need, community involvement, expected community and economic benefit, and the ability to meet changing needs.
  • Applications are assessed on project readiness, available human and financial resources, grant funding availability, and ability to complete the program or event with partial funding.

How to apply

  • Complete the application form and include all required supporting documents.
  • Email the application to communitygrants@fortsask.ca or mail it to City of Fort Saskatchewan Director of FCSS, 10005 - 102 Street, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta T8L 2C5.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by City administration for completeness and eligibility.
  • Accepted applications are forwarded to Council for consideration.
  • Grant decisions are made by Council during the annual budget process.
  • Successful applicants must enter into a Funding Agreement before grant funds are released.
  • Approved recipients must submit the Final Report and financial reporting by March 31st of the following year.

Additional information

  • The Grants to Organizations application process is open annually from May 1 to June 15.
  • Grants of $10,000.00 or less are paid as a one-time payment.
  • Grant amounts of greater than $10,000.00 are paid in quarterly installments, unless otherwise negotiated.
  • Final financial reporting is due by March 31st of the following year.
