The Cultural Development Fund materials now show the 2026 cycle: applications open October 8, 2026 and close November 28, 2026 at 11:59 pm, with the info session on October 21, 2026 at 6:00 pm on Zoom. The project period also moved from March 2026–February 2027 to March 2027–February 2028, and successful applicants are still expected to be notified by March 2027. Who is eligible?

  • Direct grants, bursaries, or awards to individuals or organizations
  • Business Improvement Areas are excluded to submit
  • Retroactively for any project expenses incurred prior to the NFCDF application date
  • Operating funding for any organization or program
  • Stand-alone commercial, fundraising or for-profit activities

Eligible expenses

  • Technical salaries and fees
  • Artistic or curatorial salaries and fees
  • Venue or facility costs, including equipment or space rental, food or drink, and permits
  • Materials
  • Marketing, travel or accommodation, and administrative or professional fees/staffing

  • Choose the correct online form for your project.
  • Review the form for full details about eligibility, required documents, and evaluation criteria.
  • Apply online between Thursday, October 8, 2026 and Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11:59 pm.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by City staff first to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • The Culture Committee evaluates applications based on the listed evaluation criteria.
  • Incomplete applications will not be funded.
  • Successful applicants receive 75% of funding prior to the commencement of the project and 25% upon completion and once all reporting requirements are done.
  • Incomplete or late final reports will not receive the final 25% of funding and will not be eligible to apply for funding in the following year.

  • Applications and final reports must be submitted digitally.
  • Applicants are encouraged to seek feedback from the committee for future applications if unsuccessful.
  • Successful applicants receive 75% of funding before the project starts and 25% after completion.
  • Late applications will not be considered.
