Who is eligible?
- Either the builder or people having homes built for them can register.
Who is not eligible
- Homes heated with oil.
- Mixed-use buildings with less than 50% Residential Occupancy.
- Multi-Unit Residential Buildings having two or more dwelling units; some two-unit buildings may be eligible if there is an interior unlocked doorway connecting the 2 units, and eligibility will be determined by your chosen Service Organization.
- Off-grid buildings.
- Cottages and camps not lived in year-round, and homes attached to a chassis.
Eligible expenses
- Building envelope upgrades, including above-grade walls, below-grade walls, basement floor and slab-on-grade, windows, doors, skylights, and air tightness.
- Mechanical system upgrades, including cold climate mini split heat pumps, cold climate multizone heat pump, cold climate central heat pump, geothermal heat pump, wood/pellet furnace or boiler, and heat recovery ventilator.
- Domestic hot water upgrades, including heat pump water heater and drain water heat recovery.

- Complete the online registration form before applying for your building permit, or call 1 800 663-6272.
- Select the Service Organization of your choice.
Processing and Agreement
- Participants are contacted by phone or email within two weeks of registering.
- After registration, a Service Organization begins modeling and evaluating the plans.
- The registered energy advisor’s report outlines two paths to consider for making the home more energy efficient.
- The on-site energy evaluation is used to determine any incentive the participant may be eligible to receive.
- If no completed Direct Deposit Enrolment Form is received when the incentive is processed, a cheque is issued to the mailing address on record.

- NB Power has contracted four Service Organizations to deliver the program, and they are licensed through Natural Resources Canada to perform energy evaluations as part of the EnerGuide Rating System.
