- Audited Financial Statements of the previous three (3) years
- Evidence of a signed offer to purchase land, land ownership, or a long-term lease agreement of thirty-three (33) years for the Project
- Proposed plans for the Project in a readable format, including the site plan, building elevations, floor plans for each floor, and detailed drawings of a typical resident room(s) for Eligible Spaces
- A capital maintenance and renewal plan

Who is eligible?
- Not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, housing management bodies or municipalities
- Legal entities that submit an Application for capital funding under the New Capacity Stream
Who is not eligible
- Standalone Type C facilities
- Applicants or Care Providers with conditional approval from Assisted Living Alberta (formerly Alberta Health Services) under another program, unless they officially withdraw from that other program in writing before the intake period closes
Eligible expenses
- Inspection fees and land acquisition
- Permits, re-zoning, and development
- Professional fees, including architect, prime consultant, and legal
- Construction material and labour
- Appraisal, geotechnical, and building condition assessments; required professional reports; site improvements, such as landscaping; planning and design
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Financing costs, fines or penalties, and losses on other projects or investments
- Complementary and/or Commercial Capacity costs
- Ongoing/deferred maintenance and operational or ongoing capital maintenance and renewal costs
- Underground parkades unless required by Authority Having Jurisdiction
- Appreciation of land value

- Review the sample Grant Funding Agreements.
- Complete the online application package.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications will be evaluated in two stages: the Compliance Stage and the Evaluation Stage.
- Applications that are incomplete or do not meet minimum requirements will not proceed to the Evaluation Stage.
- ALSS will issue a written notice of conditional approval to selected Applicants.
- Successful Applicants must enter into an Agreement, and compliance with the Program Guidelines will be a condition of funding.
- Unsuccessful Applicants that met minimum requirements may request a debriefing in writing.
