Who is eligible?
- Residential customers
- Two municipal accounts per hamlet
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Electricity sold back to QEC as a commercial sale.
- Off-grid standalone systems not connected to QEC’s distribution system.

How to apply
- Initiate the process by emailing renewableenergy@qec.nu.ca.
- Submit the application package, including all documents listed in checklist B.
Processing and Agreement
- Initiate the process by emailing renewableenergy@qec.nu.ca.
- Submit the application package, including all documents listed in checklist B.
- QEC reviews the application and determines whether the proposed system satisfies QEC criteria.
- If approved, a certified electrical contractor installs the renewable generation system.
- Submit the documentation outlined in Checklist C to QEC.
- QEC installs the bi-directional meter and changes the customer's account to NMP.
Additional information
- Excess generation credits can be carried forward for up to 12 months.
- Customers must sign a service agreement before participation.
- QEC may require inspections and technical compliance documents.
