- Organizations whose mission or programs promote hate, or run counter to principles of basic respect, justice, and equity
- Religious organizations, unless all services being funded are clearly and distinctly non-discriminatory, non-sectarian, and benefit the larger community
- Municipal, county, or state government annual budgets
- Public schools, charter schools, and private schools for annual budget support
- Donor Advised Committee members should not be contacted regarding funding inquiries

Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Budget line items for DASH grant applications must not include operational expenses such as salary, benefits, rent, utilities, or capital expenses.
- The Fund does not provide funding for K-12 operations, curriculum, capital projects, staffing, administration, or programs.

Selection criteria
- Applications are reviewed using five criteria: informed by community, guided by equity, meaningful collaboration, measurable impact, and broad range of support.
- Demonstrated authentic collaboration with the community members being served is a funding priority.
- Requests that can show meaningful collaboration and engagement with other organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and municipalities are prioritized.
- Diverse financial and in-kind contributions, along with community leadership, are sought in competitive proposals.
- Requests are expected to show local and/or regional impact through reflection, data collection, and learning over time.
How to apply
- Determine eligibility and review the Grantseeker Guide, PowerPoint, and video/audio recording.
- Contact Tillotson Fund staff to discuss your proposal idea; pre-application consultation is required.
- Create or update your organization profile in GrantSource.
- Submit the application through the GrantSource online portal.
Processing and Agreement
- Staff review the proposal and, for Large Grants, the applicant develops and finalizes the proposal with a grant reviewer.
- The grant reviewer makes a recommendation to the Tillotson Advisory Committee.
- The Advisory Committee makes the final funding decisions.
- At the end of the grant period, a final report must be submitted via GrantSource.
- For multiyear grants, staff are available to discuss interim progress throughout the grant period.

- Large Grants are invited applications with a rolling deadline.
- Reports are required for awards from the local and large grants programs.
- Organizations may apply for a Tillotson Fund grant and a New Hampshire Charitable Foundation grant in the same year.
