Who is eligible?

• Individuals living in the North Okanagan
• Small volunteer-based neighbourhood and community groups

Who is not eligible

• Businesses
• Registered organizations and charities
• Service clubs

Eligible expenses

• Food, art and craft supplies, gift cards, Skype or Zoom subscriptions, and honorariums
• Invitations, decorations, door prizes, and giveaways
• Food, beverages, and shared tools or equipment
• Rentals, permits, landfill fees, and third-party liability insurance
• Workshop supplies, including art materials or tools for participants

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Exclusive or restricted events that are not open to the broader community
• Travel expenses for out-of-area attendees
• Political campaigns or activities
• Single large purchases such as equipment or tools exceeding grant funds
• Grant funds directed exclusively to a single business

• Skill sharing and knowledge exchange
• Diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
• Budget feasibility and responsibility; priority will be given to applications that are Indigenous-led, focus on ReconciliACTION, or are led by youth or post-secondary students with projects tied to their studies

• Step 1: Prepare your project information
  • Define your idea, goals, location, and budget.
  • Gather any supporting details needed for the application.
• Step 2: Complete the online application
  • Apply through the Community Foundation North Okanagan grant portal.
  • Enter the required project and applicant information.
• Step 3: Submit the application
  • Review your answers and submit before the deadline.
  • Save a copy of your application if needed before leaving the portal.
• Step 4: Wait for review and results
  • Your application will be reviewed after the deadline.
  • Results are communicated by mid-June.

• After the application cycle closes, submissions are reviewed by the volunteer Neighbourhood Grants Committee.
• The committee assesses each application to ensure alignment with NSG’s goals and guidelines.
• Decisions are announced by mid-May.
• Grant awards are distributed to successful applicants in June.
• The NSG Coordinator may contact applicants for additional information or clarification during the review process.

• If a project takes place on neighbourhood streets, public spaces or parks, applicants must follow municipal by-laws and obtain appropriate permits and liability insurance before the project start date.
