Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered charities and other qualified donees
  • Indigenous-led non-profit societies in good standing
  • Organizations serving Sixties Scoop Survivors, their families, and descendants

Who is not eligible

  • For-profit organizations
  • First Nations led by Chief and Councils
  • Tribal Councils and Indigenous Representative Organizations
  • Provincial Territorial Organizations
  • Métis, First Nations, and Inuit settlement organizations

Eligible expenses

  • Honoraria, salaries, and professional fees directly tied to the project
  • Project-related gifts, prizes, or awards
  • Necessary capital expenses such as technology and equipment
  • Project administration costs up to 15%

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Capital infrastructure projects such as new construction, renovation, expansion, or vehicle purchases
  • Debt retirement and mortgage pay-downs
  • Expenses not necessary to deliver the project or program
  • Costs incurred before August 1, 2026 or after July 31, 2027

  • Ability to deliver the project in a culturally safe and trauma-informed way
  • Organizational capacity to implement the project

How to apply

  • Step 1: Submit the Letter of Intent
    • Send the Letter of Intent by email or webform.
    • Deadline: April 29, 2026.
  • Step 2: Prepare the full application
    • Complete the Microsoft Word application form.
    • Prepare the budget, using the Excel tool if needed.
    • Attach the intermediary agreement if applicable.
    • Include letters of support if applicable.
  • Step 3: Submit the full application
    • Email the completed application and budget to grants@60sscoopfoundation.com.
    • Deadline: June 10, 2026 at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed first by an evaluation committee
  • Eligible applications with favourable scores are forwarded to the Programs Committee and then to the Board of Directors for final decision
  • All applicants are notified of the decision by email
  • Successful applicants must sign a grant agreement before receiving payment
  • An interim report is required before the second payment is released

  • Applicants may be asked to provide letters of support.
  • Successful applicants must sign a grant agreement before payment.
  • The Foundation may share report content for promotional purposes.
  • Applications may be appealed in writing within 14 days of the decision.
