Overview

The National Adaptation Strategy & Hydrologic Prediction and Innovation grant offers up to $800,000 per year for projects that advance climate data access, flood hazard mapping, hydrologic prediction, and hydrometry innovation in Canada. Eligible activities include developing new climate data products, enhancing floodplain mapping, improving hydrologic forecasting systems, and innovating hydrometric monitoring technologies.

Financing terms and conditions

  • Stream 1: Up to $325,000 in funding available per fiscal year from 2024-2028.
  • Stream 2: Up to $800,000 in funding available per fiscal year for 2024-2027, and $240,000 for 2027-2028.
  • Stream 3: Up to $300,000 in funding available per fiscal year from 2024-2028.
  • Stream 4: Up to $80,000 in funding available per fiscal year from 2024-2028.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be one of the following: Canadian environmental non-governmental organization (ENGO), Canadian not-for-profit organization (excluding ENGO and Indigenous organizations), Canadian Indigenous organization, group, association, band, council, or individual, Canadian for-profit organization, other Canadian levels of government, Canadian public agency, Canadian university or educational institution, Canadian Crown corporation, or Canadian local organization.
  • International ENGOs, international not-for-profit/for-profit organizations, foreign individuals, intergovernmental organizations, and foreign state entities are eligible only for Streams 3 and 4.
  • The proposed project must be applicable to Canada or parts of Canada.
  • The application must be submitted to one or more of the four defined program streams: Priority Climate Data, Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping, Hydrologic Prediction, or Innovation in Hydrometry.

  • Intergovernmental organizations and foreign states (streams 3 and 4 only)
