Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Emerging artists and/or artisans working in visual media
  • Applicants who demonstrate financial need
  • Applicants who are at least 17 years old and no more than 40 years old at the time of application
  • Applicants living in Loyalist Township, City of Kingston, Township of South Frontenac, Township of Central Frontenac, Township of North Frontenac, or Township of Frontenac Islands

Eligible expenses

  • Contributing to funding for post-secondary studies in an arts program
  • Enrolment in workshops, specialized skills training, mentorships and residencies
  • The purchase of equipment and/or materials
  • Travel costs only where such use of the grant will directly enable the applicant to work closely with other artists of similar or advanced skill level

How to apply

  • Download the 2025 application form from the KAC website.
  • Fill out the form using Adobe Reader.
  • Submit the entire application by email to grants@artskingston.ca in one email containing all application materials.

Processing and Agreement

  • The KAC appoints a peer jury to review the applications each year.
  • The jury is made up of three members total, including two members from the community and, when possible, the previous year recipient of the Nan Yeomans Grant for Artistic Development.
  • The announcement of the grant recipient will take place in January 2026.
  • The recipient must acknowledge the support of the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area and the Kingston Arts Council in all written materials relating to the activities for which funds are granted.
  • A Final Report is required once the project is completed, and a status report may be submitted if the project is ongoing.
