Overview

The "My First Games" grant offers a minimum of $1,000 per region to support initiatives that introduce children aged 6 to 12 to sports in a safe and instructive environment. Eligible activities include organizing local or regional introductory sports events, such as festivals and initiation days, for youth who are not already participants in competitive sports networks.

Financing terms and conditions

  • A minimum base amount of $1,000 per region is granted for organizing "Mes Premiers Jeux" projects, provided all program conditions are met.
  • An additional amount may be granted based on the proportion of participants reported, increasing the total subsidy per project accordingly.
  • A single payment is issued per application (per edition: summer or winter) after analysis of the required project reports, covering both the base and variable amounts.

  • Organization of sports initiation activities for children aged 6 to 12 who are not currently involved in competitive sports networks.
  • Hosting friendly sports festivals and discovery events designed to introduce new participants to various sports in a safe environment.
  • Conducting training sessions and workshops that focus on the acquisition of basic sports skills and understanding of sport regulations.
  • Coordinating local or regional sports days, including introductory events in playgrounds and community settings.
  • Implementing outreach initiatives linking young participants with local sports clubs and promoting existing sports programs.

Eligibility

  • The application must be submitted by a regional leisure and sport unit (URLS) for local or regional projects, or by a provincial federation in partnership with a regional partner for provincial projects.
  • The project must introduce children aged 6 to 12 to sports, specifically those not currently active in an existing competition network.
  • The sport involved must be governed by a federation that is a member of SPORTSQUÉBEC and recognized by the Quebec government.
  • The event must be supported and supervised by regional associations or local clubs.

Who is eligible?

  • Regional sports and recreation units (Unités régionales de loisir et de sport - URLS)
  • Provincial sports federations recognized by SPORTSQUÉBEC

Who is not eligible

  • Private companies and businesses not recognized as regional leisure and sport units (URLS) or sport federations.
  • Organizations whose main activity is not related to the development or promotion of sports for youth aged 6 to 12 years.
  • Companies or organizations that do not represent a recognized sport federation member of SPORTSQUÉBEC and approved by the Quebec government.
  • Organizations intending to target participants already enrolled in existing competitive sports networks.

Complete funding application form

  • Fill out the financial assistance application form for the relevant season (summer or winter)
  • Ensure the project aligns with the program's objectives and eligibility conditions

Submit application form to SPORTSQUÉBEC

  • Submit the completed application form to SPORTSQUÉBEC before the stated seasonal deadline (October 15 for winter, March 30 for summer)
  • Keep a copy of the application for your records

Application review by SPORTSQUÉBEC

  • SPORTSQUÉBEC reviews your application and validates eligibility
  • Wait for confirmation or potential follow-up questions from SPORTSQUÉBEC

Submit final project report

  • After your event, submit a report on the completed activities, including participant numbers and required deliverables
  • Adhere to deadline for submitting your final report (March 25 for winter, October 15 for summer)

Receive and utilize funding

  • Receive the financial contribution sent by SPORTSQUÉBEC, including the base amount and any adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with all conditions for funding utilization and visual identity (logos)

Additional information

  • The definition, use, and display guidelines for all required logos must be followed and approved by SPORTSQUÉBEC for any public-facing materials related to the project.
  • The program is supported under a bilateral agreement between the Government of Quebec and the Government of Canada.
  • Projects must align with both the objectives of the local association or club and receive federation approval.
  • SPORTSQUÉBEC is responsible for managing the program and evaluating submitted projects.
