Who is eligible?

- Municipalities in the impacted area of the March 2025 ice storm
Eligible expenses
- Incremental operating costs related to emergency response and essential services
- Capital costs to repair public infrastructure or property
- External services, materials, equipment rental, and employee overtime or temporary staff costs
- Claimant-owned equipment operating costs and unrecoverable HST
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs covered by insurance
- Costs that would have been incurred regardless of the ice storm
- Regular operating expenses and regular employee wages
- Loss of revenue, insurance deductibles, and property improvements

- Applications are reviewed by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing
- Final funding approval is made by the minister
- If approved, the province and municipality enter into a transfer payment agreement
