Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Registered Nurses
- Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, for the Conference Bursary and CNA Certification Bursary
- Current CRNNL registrants in any practice setting or employment position
- Registered Nurses in staff or clinical educator roles with one of the Regional Health Authorities
Who is not eligible
- Prior recipients of the Bay St. George Chapter Scholarship may not reapply
- Applicants who have received a Trust Conference or Post Basic Course Bursary within the past 5 years are not eligible for the Conference Bursary
- Applicants who have received a Trust CNA Certification Bursary in the past five years are not eligible for that bursary
- Applicants who have received the Health Educators Bursary in the past 5 years are not eligible for that bursary
Eligible expenses
- Self-paid (out of pocket) continuing education costs
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Academic programs such as BN and MN are not eligible for the Health Educators Bursary
Eligible geographic areas
- South Western area of the province starting at Long Point in the District of Port Au Port, east to Gallants and Bay St. George Districts
Selection criteria
- Applications are reviewed using a standardized scale where 1 = Below Average and 4 = Exceptional
- Applications are scored using the review criteria included in the award description
- Final scores are used to rank applicants, and scholarships are awarded to the highest-ranked applicants until available funds are distributed
- Preference will be given to applications from current practicing members
- For some awards, the ranking criteria are personal statement, reference, and financial need as determined by whether the applicant has received funding from other sources
How to apply
- Review the Application Requirements document before you begin
- Complete the appropriate online application form for the bursary
- If you are enrolled in an academic program in the Spring competition, use the academic application form and the reference form
- Submit the application by the appropriate deadline
- Mail supporting documentation to the Trust if required
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are blinded before review
- Applications are reviewed in spring and fall competitions
- If the spring competition does not have enough applications to hold a review meeting, funding decisions may be deferred until the fall competition and applicants do not need to re-submit
- Applicants are notified by email whether or not their application is successful
- If the application is successful, the Trust reimburses the bursary after the required documentation is submitted
- If a recipient is unable to participate in the specified event, the award is returned to the Trust's general fund
Additional information
- The Trust issues T4As to scholarship or bursary recipients who receive funding of more than $500
- Recipients must determine their own tax treatment based on their circumstances
- All CRNNL registrants with a current practicing license are members of the Trust
- Those with a current non-practicing membership can become members by paying the $10 Trust membership fee
