Eligibility

Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses

  • Direct costs required to carry out the proposed activities.
  • Knowledge mobilization and knowledge-sharing costs.
  • Costs for team participation and support where justified.
  • In-kind or cash-matched project costs, if included in the budget.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Academic dissemination, including journal articles and conference presentations.
  • Equipment.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Register and log in to SHRF RMS
    • Create or update your profile in the SHRF Research Management System.
    • Select the correct organization for the application.
  • Step 2: Prepare the application
    • Complete the proposal, timeline, budget, roles and responsibilities, and supporting materials.
    • Invite team members and supporters to accept their invitations.
  • Step 3: Obtain approvals
    • Download the appropriate approval page.
    • Collect the required signatures and upload the signed document.
  • Step 4: Submit online
    • Review all required fields in SHRF RMS.
    • Save the draft and submit electronically through the portal.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed internally by SHRF.
  • Funding decisions are made about 15 business days after submission, subject to demand.
  • Applicants are notified by email of the outcome.
  • Successful applicants must sign a Notice of Acceptance before funds are released.
  • Progress, impact, and financial reporting are required after funding.

Additional information

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling intake basis.
  • Selected applicants will receive an email notification of the funding decision.
  • A final report and a follow-up report are required for successful projects.
  • The grant can be extended at no cost if needed.
